02

The Amtrak Empire Builder Into Downtown Whitefish

Whitefish is one of the few mountain towns where a train stops right downtown. The Amtrak Empire Builder runs between Chicago and Seattle or Portland, and it stops at the historic Whitefish Depot on Depot Street.

This is a real option for guests who dislike flying or want a slower trip. They step off the train and can walk to a downtown hotel, then meet the group from there. Check current times and fares at Amtrak before planning around it.

04

Renting a Car at the Airport

A car is useful here. Guests will want one for the drive to the ranch, a trip into Glacier National Park, or a run into town.

Four rental companies have counters inside the airport terminal, next to baggage claim: Avis, Budget, Hertz, and National or Alamo. Not every guest needs a car, so a couple of shared rentals often covers the group.

05

Where the Group Stays

Guests usually split between two options. Some stay onsite at the ranch, and the rest take a downtown Whitefish hotel about eight miles away.

North Star Ranch has onsite lodging across a five-bedroom chalet, four cabins, and an eight-room lodge, so much of the group can stay together. The downtown hotels below handle the overflow. Call each one for current rates.
